Ingredients

  • 1 big-sized potato (already peeled).
  • A pinch of salt (for seasoning).
  • 250 grams of flour.
  • 1 tsp of salt.
  • 1 tsp of chicken broth.
  • 1/2 tsp of baking soda.
  • Water (to make a dipping batter).
  • Oil (for frying).

Instructions

  1. Cut the potato in half, then slice it into small, elongated pieces.
  2. Wash and drain the sliced potato, then season it with a pinch of salt, mix well, and let it rest for a few minutes until the salt is absorbed.
  3. In a mixing bowl, add flour, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of chicken broth, and 1/2 tsp of baking soda. Mix them well.
  4. Take a bit of the flour mixture and place it in a small bowl for dipping.
  5. Add water slowly while stirring, until the batter becomes thick.
  6. Dip each slice of potato into the batter mixture, then coat it with the dry flour mixture.
  7. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat, then start frying the coated potato slices.
  8. Wait until the potato slices turn golden brown and are well-cooked before removing them from the oil.
  9. Drain the excess oil from the fried potato slices, then serve them hot.

Packaging and Selling Idea

You can use a baking paper bag and sprinkle some BBQ or Balado seasoning on the crispy potato chips. A bag like this can be sold for IDR 5,000, and for one big-sized potato, you can make three bags of crispy potato chips. It’s quite profitable, and the taste is deliciously crispy.
